Understanding RTP and House Edge

Make informed decisions by understanding how casino games work

RTP (Return to Player) is the percentage of all wagered money that a game will pay back to players over time. For example, a slot with 96% RTP will theoretically return Rp 96 for every Rp 100 wagered over millions of spins. This is a long-term statistical average—individual sessions can vary widely due to variance and luck.

House Edge is the casino's built-in mathematical advantage, calculated as 100% minus RTP. A 96% RTP slot has a 4% house edge. Lower house edge means better long-term value for players. Here are typical RTP ranges by game type:

  • Video Slots: 92% - 98% RTP (house edge 2% - 8%)
  • Blackjack (optimal strategy): 99% - 99.5% RTP (house edge 0.5% - 1%)
  • European Roulette: 97.3% RTP (house edge 2.7%)
  • American Roulette: 94.74% RTP (house edge 5.26% due to double zero)
  • Baccarat (Banker bet): 98.94% RTP (house edge 1.06%)
  • Video Poker (optimal strategy): 98% - 99.5% RTP (house edge 0.5% - 2%)

Understanding RTP and house edge helps you make informed gaming choices. Games with higher RTP offer better long-term value, though short-term results depend on luck and variance. Always check the RTP information in game rules before playing, and remember that no strategy can overcome the house edge in games of pure chance. Play for entertainment, set loss limits, and never chase losses.
